I..Kuz…I’m trying. Even this right now..it’s really hard you know?
-barely audible- It still hurts.
-super awkward- I..um…-super quiet- never stopped…
-awkward silence- So…um…have you thought about us being able to hang out, maybe? -hopefulness plastered all over his face-
-sees him staring, blushes, and tucks it into her shirt, then looks away biting her lip-
-looks at her, frowning slightly-
Ez…How long have you been…You’re…-whispers now, almost to himself- …You’re still wearing it…
Thanks…-awkwardly scuffs her foot against the floor and fidgets with her necklaces not really knowing what to say-
-notices one of her necklaces is the bench necklace, stares at it with a lost look on his face, not realizing that he’s staring-
Right. Me? Um..I’m assuming you heard about Heath leaving? ..Well..I’m doing better. So much happening, one thing right after another, kind of took it’s toll, but I’m getting back to normal and stuff.
Ah….right…Heath…Well, that’s good! Not the leaving part. The…the back to normal bit, I mean…that’s good, I’m happy for you. -awkwardly finishes, staring at floor-
-looks up at hearing the tapping and freezes as well-
..Hey Kuz…I..had heard you were back. Um..everything ok at home? -hurts a lot to talk to him but she’s trying super hard to move on okay-
-looks down- Yeah…just a stupid “meeting of the royals” event…I had to be there to schmooze…
-looks up- …What about you? How are you doing?
-humming some sort of tune-
-sitting in hall on the floor reading potions homework, starts tapping foot to beat of humming unconsciously, looks up to see who’s humming and freezes deer-in-headlights style-
-Blushes and smirks.- Mhm. I never said you weren’t wanted. I believe that’s putting words in my mouth.
-wanders back over, an ‘i knew it’ grin on his face-
Good to know. -grins wider-
Kuz’s eyes drifted unintentionally down the length of her body. He couldn’t lie to himself; this was one smoking-hot lady that had picked him up for the night. Where normally he would have felt thrilled anticipation, his stomach instead began to systematically tie…
Kuzco laughed lightly. “There aren’t many dances I don’t know, lady. There’s a nice little place up the road. As for a casino, that’s a little further but I’ll call a coach for us when we need it.” He grinned devilishly, then grabbed her hand and spun her around, his arm coming to rest about her waist. “Shall we?” He murmured, and ushered her down the street.
The jazz music could be heard before the place came into view. Kuz was still feeling nervous, but excited now too. Swing not being a common dance, he hadn’t had many partners to perform it with. He hummed along as the distant music grew closer. Finally they encountered the source, “The Golden Panther” written in scripted letters across its front. The line was modestly long, but Kuz wandered up to the front of the line with Jess. A pointed look at the bouncers was all it took for them to allow them entrance. As they entered, Kuz gave Jess a lazy smile. “So, what comes first, the drink or the dance?”
-Crosses her arms, leaning to right side.- I beg to differ and that was another pick up line. -Taps her foot for a minute, thinking. Leaving a pause in the conversation.-
Apologies, can’t help myself. Bad habit. -winks-
But! If I’m not wanted ‘round here, I can leave… -turns to leave-
